I’m no designer, but I know what I like when I see it. Which puts me squarely in the dangerous space that many entrepreneurs have – thinking they can do it (after all we can do anything). Put together a web site, landing page, flyer, promotion… no problem?
Well, that’s why designers are well paid – and rightfully so. Armature design can be smelled a mile off.
And then I found two resources that I know will make your day if you still don’t want to pay for good design. These are free and will turn around your designs – in a good way. You see, it turns out that design is actually a science.

Why is this important? Your online presence needs to be accessible. Accessibility means that websites are open and accessible to individuals regardless of their disabilities. And there are recognized standards such as the level AA of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 (WCAG). Conforming to these guidelines will help make the web more user friendly for all people.
Even if you’re not targeting those with visual disabilities (or those with ‘older’ eyesight), you know that more than 50% of your visitors are coming from a mobile device, so it makes sense to make your site easy to read. This free site is nice and easy to use to ensures your foreground and background colors can be seen.
There you go – two super easy to use and free sites, to make your online design so much better.
